If you’re a smoothie fanatic such as myself and are looking for the best blenders for smoothies then you’ve come across the right guide! In this write-up, I’ll be reviewing 7 recent blenders that I’ve purchased and reviewed to see which ones provide the best power and features for making smoothies. The Hamilton Beach Personal Single Serve Blender (with Travel Lid included) is one of my personal favorites when it comes to blenders although there are a couple of downsides that I will cover. First, I’m going to cover what I love about this particular Blender by Hamilton Beach as the pros far outweigh the few nuances of this particular blender.
To start off, the design is very sleek and has a very smooth feel to it when being held and the naturally curved sides provide great support allowing the perfect grip every time you’re blending a smoothie.
It’s powerful, user-friendly (controls are very easy to use), quiet and the blade doesn’t require any assembly whatsoever so it’s ready to use right out of the box. Another design feature that Hamilton Beach did a good job on is the measurement labeling on the glass.
Features of the Hamilton Beach Blender:
- A large 14 oz. capacity
- Perfect for blending fruit smoothies, icy drinks and even shakes
- A conveniently included travel lid for when you’re on-the-go
- Drink straight from the container after you’ve blended your smoothie
- Store upside down (no spill) for easy storage
Measurements are very easy to read and visible even when you have product inside of the container so you won’t need to worry about not adding too much (or too little) into your smoothie concoction.
While there are many things about this blender that I truly love, a couple of things worth noting is that the blade does not detach (which make cleaning the blender a bit of an inconvenience) and it’s not recommended to be used in a dishwasher so expect to spend around 10 minutes or so cleaning the blender after use.
With that said, this is honestly one of the quietest blenders that I’ve used and can be used even late at night if you have family sleeping just a room over from the kitchen so definitely consider this Blender by Hamilton Beach if you’re looking for a well-rounded blender for smoothies.
Breville BBL605XL Hemisphere Control Blender
The Breville BBL605XL Hemisphere Control Blender is one of the most impressive blenders that I’ve ever reviewed in all of the years that I’ve blending smoothies! Breville has done a fantastic job on both the design and performance with the Hemisphere Control Blender which measures 16 and a half inches tall (and around 7 inches wide).
Before moving on with this review, keep in mind that this is a tall blender so be sure that you have at least 18 inches of clearance between your countertop and the bottom of your cabinets if you’re planning on placing the blender underneath your cabinetry.
First off, this Breville blender is powerful with boasting 750-watts so you’ll be able to blend nearly anything without any hesitation coming from the blades. With all of this power comes a host of unique control and button options whichinclude snow (this feature is used for crushing/blending ice), mix, liquefy, blend and puree.
Features of the Breville Hemisphere Control Blender:
- A large container with advanced blade system featuring centralized blades
- Electronic control system ensuring blade speed/RPM consistency
- Container constructed from lightweight, BPA-free plastic
- LCD screen with timer which allows you to control speed settings
- Light-up buttons allowing for easy use even in darker settings
The last option is for smoothie lovers! Press the “smoothie” button and you’ll be effortlessly making smoothies in no time! When activated, the smoothie button will automatically blend the contents for you for one minute and will blend everything nearly instantaneously although with an entire minute of blending you can rest assured that there will be no clumps of any unblended fruits/ice.
There’s also a small LCD screen on the front of the blender and will display settings for the blender speed and other presets which makes using the blender much easier and even more fun to use.
For those who are curious, Breville has implemented a 48-ounce pitcher which is good enough for making a few smoothies for you and your friends so you won’t need to spend time blending multiple drinks.
Overall, this is a great blender and I’d recommend it to anyone that’s seeking a versatile blender with many unique options and features.
Ninja Professional Blender NJ600
Next up on my list is the Ninja Professional Blender NJ600, a powerful 1000-watt blender that comes with a complimentary 1-year warranty from Ninja (the manufacturer). If you have a large family and typically need to make 4-5 smoothies at a time then this is the perfect blender for your kitchen as with this model you’ll have a 72-ounce capacity to blend your ingredients.
I first want to discuss the blades that Ninja built-in to the blender to take advantage of that 1,000 watts of power. Ninja decided to use not two but three rows of blades (stainless steel) which blends ice, fruit, and vegetables with ease with consistency every use. While there are three rows of blades, there are two blades per row so you’ll have a total of 6 stainless steel blades to blend your smoothies.
Features of the Ninja Professional NJ600 Blender:
- An improved and enlarged container
- New safety features
- A powerful and efficient 1,000-watt motor
- A built-in pour spout on the lid for easy, spill-free pouring
- Motor strong enough to blend ice with ease
Thankfully, Ninja has made these blades removable so cleaning this blender can be done in a matter of just a couple minutes.
Overall, it’s a great and powerful blender and will blend nearly anything you throw at it although you’ll probably need to take some time to figure out which power setting(s) you’ll need to use as there aren’t display settings that show the power level you’re using.
However, there is a very detailed instruction manual included so I suggest you review the manual to learn about the various features/modes.
Oster 6811 6-Cup Glass Jar 12-Speed Blender
Oster is a household name when it comes to smoothie blenders and their smoothie blender product lines are loved by many dedicated smoothie-making fanatics. Next up for review is the Oster 6811 smoothie blender and to be honest I was quite excited to review this blender as I’ve read a lot of great reviews from buyers on Amazon so I knew I had to include this in the guide.
The Oster 6811 smoothie blender is a great counter piece for your kitchen and the black/chrome design will fit the design of nearly any kitchen. The powerful 450-watt motor which drives the blender was engineered to crush nearly anything you put in it (including ice) so you can be assured that blending smoothies is as easy as ever with this particular model.
It’s not only powerful but also very durable and reliable as Oster included an “all metal” drive system which provides continual consistency in power so even months down the line you can expect the same performance.
Features of the Oster 6811 smoothie blender:
- A powerful 700-watt motor (450 watts allocated for blending)
- 12-speed options ranging from PULE to PUREE
- 10-year manufacturer warranty on the power drive system
- Clear marking with easy readability for easy smoothie making
- Allows you to blend up to 6 cups at once
Another great feature is the large glass container which has the capacity to hold up to 6 cups worth of liquids/ingredients so you can easily make smoothies for friends and families in one blend. I was happy to see that Oster used glass for the container as glass is usually much more sturdy and durable and when combined with the lid that eliminates the chance of a leak it makes it one of the best lids I’ve seen added to a blender.
There are tons of options when it comes to the Oster 6811 smoothie blender some of which allowing you control the blender speed with the push of a single button. In total, there are 12 settings (six for lower speeds and 6 for higher speeds).
These 12 settings are categorized into two areas with the main switch allowing you switch the settings from either low speeds or main speeds. The 6 lower speed settings are labeled “mix and whip”, puree, “easy clean”, chop and cream. The 6 higher speed setting buttons are for grating, liquefying, shredding, blending, grinding and “ice crushing”.
There’s also a feature called “Pulse” which will require you to hold down the button to blend the ingredients. When in “Pulse” mode, the blender will at its highest and most powerful speed for as long as you’re holding the button. When you release the “Pulse” button, the blender will stop and you’ll be able to pour your smoothie.
My conclusion is that it’s a great blender for any kitchen and for the price you can’t beat it! One thing that I didn’t yet mention is that Oster offers this in many different style options including brushed nickel, metallic red or a regular blue/red finish.
Breville BBL910XL Smoothie Blender
The Breville BBL910XL is such a highly powerful and capable machine that it’s known as a “super blender” among its users. When it comes to this smoothie blender, the saying “you get what you pay for” couldn’t be truer because while it’s not the cheapest it is (in my opinion) one of the best smoothie blenders on the market and Breville did not disappoint me with the results I had from the BBL910XL.
When developing this Blender, Breville decided to upgrade their traditional blade system to the high-velocity “Pro Kinetix” blade system which quite literally pulverizes any ingredients that you choose to put in it. From testing that has been done (not by me), studies have shown that the Breville BBL910XL smoothie blender is capable of blending ingredients down to 50% of the size of traditional, non “top of the line” blenders so I’d say it’s well worth spending the few extra dollars on this blender if you’re wanting very fine smoothies.
Features of the Breville BBL910XL smoothie blender:
- A powerful motor tested at 2 HP (very powerful)
- A convenient self-cleaning mode allows for easy maintenance
- User-friendly controls with an LCD screen
- The Pro Kinetix blade system allows you to blend anything from fruits to ice
- Control blending speeds with the dial to control ingredient texture consistency
Personally, I’m one of those smoothie-makers that like my ingredients to be blended very finely. Typically, I don’t like clumps or non-grinded ingredients in my smoothies when I drink them and this particular blender did a fantastic job at blending everything I put in it very finely.
Aside from making smoothies, if you purchase a high-end blender such as this one, you may want to take full advantage of its power and features and you’ll be able to do that whether you’re making smoothies, grinding up coffee beans or blending ice.
The controls are very easy to use, the blade doesn’t require assembly of any sort, the glass jar has a nicely equipped handle which allows for the perfect grip when blending or pouring and the lid comes off very easily (no accidental spills).
Before concluding my review on the Breville BBL910XL smoothie blender, I do want to notate that while this is dishwasher safe/compatible, I noticed a few scratches on it after removing it from my dishwasher so you may want to consider hand-washing this blender even though it may take you some time (since this blade can’t be removed).
Cuisinart SPB-7 SmartPower 40-Ounce 7-Speed Smoothie Blender
The second to last smoothie blender to be reviewed on this list brings us to the Cuisinart Smart Power 7-Speed blender which I have to say was quite impressive with many features that you often times don’t see at blenders in this price range. Not many people have tried blenders by this brand which is why I decided to review it as this brand deserves some recognition for developing such a powerful smoothie blender while be competitively priced.
I made around 10 smoothies with this particular blender and everything was blended very smoothly by the quiet and efficient 500-watt motor which will blend up to an impressive 40 ounces of ingredients at once.
Many blender shoppers don’t concern themselves with a lot of the technical stats but I’m one that really likes to have an understanding of what the blender is capable of in terms of power so after doing some in-depth research I found out that this blender is driven by a 7-speed motor which you’ll be able to tell almost immediately as the blending is very smooth and consistent.
Features of the Cuisinart SmartPower Smoothie Blender:
- Powerful 500-watt motor is great for blending, mixing or pureeing ingredients
- An improved speed control system (with touchpad) with light indicators
- A large 40-ounce container
- 2-ounce pour lid allows for easy pouring
- Has met and passed electrical standards
In my opinion, for a blender this size, the 500-watt motor that Cuisinart decided to use in my opinion is a bit overpowered but it’s better to have more than you need than too little. From ice to coffee beans, this blender can handle it all and I had no issues with it whatsoever.
If you’re like me and tend to use many ingredients in your smoothies you’ll be pleased with how large the container mouth is and with it having a 2-ounce pour lid it makes adding ingredients even easier.
Most of the aggravation that comes from blending smoothies is that mess that often times accompanies the process so with a large mouth and an easy-to-use pour lid that helps to eliminate messes and spills it made me really like this particular blender and I appreciated the little details that Cuisinart put into designing this model.
The next thing I want to discuss is the locking ring on the mouth of the container which is self-aligning. The glass container that holds your ingredients easily locks into place when you sit it atop the blender and the rubberized gasket (which is leak-proof) holds the container in place very firmly so usage during the blender is very sturdy and durable.
On top of all of these features and the front located controls (with light indicators) that allow you to adjust power levels, Cuisinart also provides a no hassle three-year warranty on the blender so you won’t ever need to worry about replacements or repairs in the event that something happens to the blender.
Definitely, put this blender on your consideration list as it provides a lot of great features and a complimentary warranty!
Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO with Auto-iQ Boost
Finally, the end of the guide (I know I know, it was a lot of reading) and I saved this blender for last based on the features that offered that you don’t get with other blenders currently available on the market. The Ninja Nutri Bowl Smoothie Blender comes fully packed with advanced features with my personal favorite being the “Auto-iQ Boost” functionality which puts more power in your hands by allowing you to determine both the texture and consistency of the juices/fruits that you blend.
This is what I call “making the perfect smoothie”!
This is an uncommon feature and with this being one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) smoothie blenders on this list it’s quite impressive that such features would be available at this price. I had the pleasure of reviewing this blender by Nutri Ninja and I chose to buy it for this review specifically to test out the new Auto-iQ Boost technology to see how consistent it was.
I made smoothies using the Nutri Ninja for me, my mother (who makes smoothies daily) and a couple of friends and everyone (including myself) agrees that this blender was very accurate in blending the ingredients down to the desired fineness and everyone that I shared smoothies with desired different thicknesses and the Nutri Ninja made it perfectly every time!
Features of the Ninja Nutri Smoothie Blender:
- A highly capable blender able to make smoothies, crush ice and even make soup
- High-quality blades (very sharp)
- Digital control buttons which allow you to control both cooking times and temperatures
- Three unique temperature control settings
- Speed options for stirring, pulse and blending
With such a great feature comes a different of couple options as well with Nutri Ninja offering two unique models one coming with a 24-ounce container capacity and the second with a 32-ounce capacity. One big upgrade that they’ve made to this blender is an improvement to the lid.
In the past, I’ve had issues with pouring smoothies with Nutri Ninja blenders but they’ve now added what they call a “spout lid” which tightly seals the lid to the rim allowing you to place it in a bag or even a backpack without worrying about spillage.
Another improvement that they’ve made that previous models didn’t have is a time cycle. Prior to the Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO with Auto-iQ Boost, when blending a smoothie, you’d have to hold the button down until it’s completed but now you press the button once and it’ll blend the ingredients for an entire minute at which point it stops and will continue blending for an additional minute (set and forget!).
With so many upgrades made, they’ve definitely listened to their fan base but their improvements didn’t stop there!
With the Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO with Auto-iQ Boost, they packed in a whopping 1,200 watts of power and when combined with the extractor blade makes making smoothies effortless!
